The StairwayAntelope Canyon near Page, Arizona is a difficult place to photograph properly. Adjustable camera, tripod, some technical skill and a great amount of luck are required. Long shutter speeds and small apertures are usually the rule. Those taking slides should use ISO 50 or 100 film. The point and shoot photographer should use high speed negative film of at least ISO 400. Flash is of little value and should not be used. Traveling to the canyon with a knowledgeable guide is very helpful. May through September produce the most desirable images.
